ABSTRACT Integrated pest management (IPM) strategies are among the factors promoting plant resistance to pests, and silicon application may increase this resistance. Thus, the aim of this research was to evaluate the control of diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera, Plutellidae) through foliar application of silicon in cabbage crops. The experiment was conducted in the vegetable producing area of Água Limpa Farm, Universidade de Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brasil. The experimental design was of randomized blocks with nine treatments and four replicates, totaling 36 plots. ABSTRACT The study aimed to determine the toxicity of lambda-cyhalothrin, alpha-cypermethrin, and deltamethrin in L. longipalpis, through concentration-mortality bioassays. The test here was performed following WHO guidelines, but instead of using exposure WHO recipients and impregnated papers, 250 ml Wheaton glass bottles treated with 1 ml of insecticide solution were used. Batches of ten females of L. longipalpis were exposed to five concentrations of each pyrethroid that caused between 5 and 100 % mortality in this species. After 1 h of exposure, the females were transferred to observation recipients, and mortality was recorded 24 h later. El psílido asiático de los cítricos, Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Liviidae), es el principal vector del agente causal del Huanglongbing (HLB) en cítricos en el mundo. El control de esta plaga se realiza principalmente con insecticidas a pesar de la presencia de sus enemigos naturales. La integración de los enemigos naturales debe ser considerada dentro de un programa de manejo integrado de esta plaga en cultivos de cítricos, por lo que en este trabajo se evaluó la toxicidad de tres insecticidas sobre tres de los depredadores más comunes en cítricos, los crisópidos Ceraeochrysa valida y Chrysoperla rufilabris, y el coccinélido Olla v-nigrum. Toxicite et persistance en milieu marin d'un insecticide derive des benzoylurees: le diflubenzuron. ArchiMer

The laboratory tests showed that the diflubenzuron does not present acute toxicity to shellfish and fish, but can affect the survival rate of Artemia salina and Palaemonetes varians, when its concentration rises to the level of its water solubility. The insecticide persistence in sea water had been found to be 3 weeks and its concentration factor in the fish after 52 days of exposure was very low. The use of dimilin in coastal zones for the eradication of caterpillars seems to have an insignificant impact on marine ecosystem, particularly on the molluscs.

Brown planthopper (BPH) is a major insect pest of irrigated rice cultivation areas in lower north, central and northeast Thailand. The field experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of nine insecticides to control BPH in farmers’ fields at Suphan Buri, Nakhonayok and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. The results showed that the sulfoxaflor 50 % WG and pymetrozine 50 % WG were the most effective insecticides. The ratios of BPH/mirid bug (MB) in the buprofezin and pymetrozine fields were lower than other fields, which may indicate the less toxicity to MB compared with other insecticides. Moreover, toxicity of each insecticide to MB was investigated using a leaf dipping method and the result indicated that pymetrozine 50 % WG was the lowest toxicity to...
